 Monetizing your music has become exponentially harder over the last decade.  Though for the opportunist you could say it's actually gotten easier. Regardless of your stance on the matter, the notion of a "traditional" revenue stream for artists in today's industry can be laughed at. However a band makes their money, it's generally assumed that it can only take them further. You may want to think again. According to Marcus Taylor of The Musician's Guide, the sole objective of making money, if not approached with caution, can squander any band's chance of making it to the next level.
