Found Around: The 4 best iPad Apps that Can Make You a Better Musician
Written by Aidan Rush Posted in: Found Around on August 09, 2010
The iPad promised huge advancements in what applications could offer users and so far Apple has not disappointed. It makes games better, reading better, email better, etc. In short, life is generally better for iPad owners (I’ve got to get me one of those things…). Music Think Tank posted their list of best iPad apps for making music when the iPad was initially released, but this compilation focuses on apps that can either help you learn or develop musical skills. I know there are iPad “haters” out there so put your feelings aside and let's for one minute think of the children. Imagine a piano student taking lessons once a week for $300 a month and SHOCKER, he hates it. Now imagine that the music school loans an iPad to each student so they can supplement their lessons playing a fun game at home that is basically guitar hero for pianists using 2 octaves of keys right on the screen. Suddenly the child is filled with inspiration, running to his lessons each week, thanking his parents everyday for letting him go, and becomes the next Rachmaninov!!! (Sorry, save the music, children are our future, that’s just where my mind naturally goes.)
Whether these apps will help children discover their passion for music or just make writing songs on-the-go easier for musicians remains to be seen, as does the question of whether or not these apps are worth buying and iPad for. I’ll let you decide the answer to that, but know that if you’re a music student or just an everyday hobbyist who already has an iPad, these apps are sure to improve your skills. Leave some juicy comments below if you want to dish about these apps or possibly add some of your own to the list.

We’ve posted the best iPad apps for musicians before but now, lets take a closer look at the best apps to help musicians learn a musican skill or develop their pre-existing skills. Here are the 4 best apps to make you a better musician:
Karajan was featured on our list of the 5 best iPhone apps for musicians a few months ago and now that there’s an iPad version of the app it may be the best mobile learning tool for music. The app provides lessons for learning to recognize intervals, chords, scales, pitch and tempo where you can either click the right answer or play it on a simulated piano or guitar thanks to the Multi-Touch screen. Now musicians can train their ear and work on their piano/guitar skills virtually anywhere. Practice makes perfect and with a built-in headphone jack you can do your roommate a favor by not forcing them to hear you work your way to perfection.
