SXSW 2010: Quick Austin Recap
Written by Ben Maitland-Lewis Posted in: Events on March 20, 2010
We had a great time at SXSW 2010 and were able to meet, mingle, and mesh with a lot of bands and industry professionals over the last four days. We attended showcases, late night parties, private events, and sponsored 3 events ourselves. We talked to hundreds of bands and were able to perform mini focus groups on the bus to musicians and producers. This entire trip has proved to be beneficial in more ways than one. We began seeding the name Indie Ambassador while tweaking our tag lines and developing more focused talking points. We heard valuable feedback directly from our future members, while expanding our professional network with potential partners to better benefit the Indie Ambassador service.
Above all, we were immersed in a scene most comfortable to us. A scene filled with bands, musicians, agents, managers, producers, members of the press, street performers, tech gurus, and all-around colorful people. Now as we leave Austin, we look forward to getting back to “basecamp” to continue building the most robust artist development software available armed with the valuable feedback we received while down here. Once back in Boston, we’re adding an additional software developer to our team and will continue getting everything ready to unveil within a few months.
Thank you for your interest in our endeavors and supporting what we are trying to do for the independent music community. We believe very strongly in what we are doing and look forward to assisting musicians, their bands and intermediaries build transparent, sustainable careers in music. In the next few days we’ll be posting some awesome video and pictures from the trip. If you didn’t receive an advanced membership card while at SX’, or would like one, request one here!
Ben!
