Profiles: Roots of Creation Interview @ B.O.M.B. Fest

Decade-old New Hampshire band Roots of Creation has stayed dedicated to their career's growth through it all. The journey has been a roller coaster, but the whole band agrees that the most important thing is to keep at it and work toward the bigger goal. And although they aren’t touring in a Prevost bus (yet), they stay upbeat and motivated. Watch our interview with them below to hear about what gets them up in the morning, why they prefer to release live albums instead of studio recordings, and how they make the most of connections with other artists!

Roots of Creation Quick Tips

  • When on tour, always be prepared for the worst. ROC had their bus breakdown outside Seattle, WA, as far away from home as possible, and had to fly their bass player to San Francisco so he could pick up another van and drive it back up!
  • Don’t have time or money to record a studio album? Consider recording a one of your concerts and selling it as a live album instead. For a band like ROC whose fans prefer the live atmosphere, this decision was a win win.
  • If you haven’t reached your goals yet, don’t let it distress you. Everything takes time, from being able to headline your own show to moving beyond the van/trailer combo and touring in a real bus.
  • Don’t let writer's block be a road block; always be looking for other talented artists to work with.
  • Never underestimate the power of meeting other bands! If you see a band play you like, do what you can to talk to them. These meetings can prove very beneficial.
